I love this idea but when the nail grows out what becomes of the patched edge? The nail will break in that spot after it grows out anyway? This is just a temporary fix i guess. Seems hard but i hate when all my nails are all even then one rips so i may try

Yeah, I'm afraid nothing can permanently heal a broken nail, so this is just a temporary fix. I do this if it breaks near the finger, and then just file the nail down to the tear when it has grown out a little. It's not so hard, actually, you just have to be patient when the glue dries and with the gentle buffing, that's all :)

Yeah, I used to use tea bags as well, but I found that the patch started cracking after a little while, so I decided to try it out with fabric instead.

As for the stretchy material, it's just a small piece of fabric - stretchy fabrics tend to be slightly thinner than non stretchy ones, and so, less material to buff down.
