Backstage Hairstyling Secret

must-have hair product from fall 2011 nyfw
Every season, there's one star product backstage at fashion week. It's usually a mysterious, unlabeled bottle, a lab sample of some new, top secret hairstyling formula that a beauty company is road testing--on runway models. These precious samples are hand-carried by hairstylists from show to show and stolen from each other's stations. So what was the must-have product from fall 2011 in New York Fashion Week? Wella Ocean Spritz, a matte texturizing hairspray that gives hair a rough, beachy feel that's perfect for building height (like at Peter Som, above) or creating a soft, casual hold (like the knotted buns at Narciso Rodriguez). Whenever Beautylish saw hairstylist Eugene Souleiman backstage (and we saw him backstage at many shows--Eugene, Guido Palau, and Orlando Pita are NYFW's star hairstylist trinity), he was grabbing for his special bottle of Ocean Spritz, spraying it into models' manes. It's finally available next month and Beautylish can't wait to give it a try--we love that it was tested on models. That's good enough for us!
