I have the mane n tail shampoo and conditioner at the moment, and I was wondering if anybody else has used these products?
They're supposed to help with hair growth, and if it helped you, please share!

No, I wouldn't recommend it, I didn't like it 👎

I've heard only terrible things about this shampoo and conditioner and I would never use it, it's full of wax so you'll think your hair is growing from the wax weighing it down but after a few months of usage your hair will be brittle and dry.

It's for both horses and people haha, says it right on the bottle. It's honestly made my hair really smooth and soft so far.

Sooo bad for your hair but I know people will argue about it so I don't even wanna try explaining. It's the wrong ph for your hair that's all I'm going to say

I'll post my 'long hair guide'. Hopefully it'll help you out ☺
Can you really make the speed of your hair growth increase?
Yes and no.
If your hair has been damaged through the use of heat styling, harsh products, and other means; Then by taking care of your hair with some TLC, the rate of growth will increase. However, this is because the hair was damaged previously and not at its healthiest point.
To begin with, you want to do is stimulate hair growth and encourage the strength and health of your hair.
Genetics play a major role here, your hair is meant to grow up to a certain length before falling off ( like how some people have shorter lashes than others)... So if super long hair doesn't run in the family, don't get so bummed out if your hair stays at a certain length.
Top Hair growth myths: Mane n’ Tail ( Horse shampoo and conditioner. ) & Biotin Pills.
Mane n' tail shampoo/conditioner is not PH balanced for human hair or scalp, over time it begins to dry out your hair and make it brittle (I can even vouch for this personally. Over a series of months, my hair became very brittle and dried out. It took me about 4-6 months to notice this change. )
The reason people believe Mane n' Tail makes your hair grow faster and thicker is because of the heavy amount of wax in it.
The wax present in Mane n' Tail simply weighs down your hair and this wax can actually cause flakes. The wax in Mane n' Tail is the reason for dullness, and dryness that it can cause. The wax builds up on your hair and overtime causes that side effect. In other words, Mane n Tail is as effective as lard.
Biotin Pills should not be taken without consulting a doctor. Biotin is initially meant for those who have a biotin deficiency or a related illness. Taking biotin is not needed as you get enough from your own intake of food.
Biotin can also yield nasty side effects, many girls (some on here) failed to yield the warning and ended up with high fever, vomiting throughout the day, mild to severe acne, and even in the hospital.. Some symptoms as odd as getting acne on your legs. Biotin is also NOT approved by the FDA.
There are foods that contain Biotin already (Peanut butter is a good example.) It is better to look up foods rich in Biotin. And believe it or not, you can make your own Biotin rich smoothie. (A yummy smoothie just for hair growth and no side effects vs. a pill not approved by our own sketchy government is enough say for me at least.)
Following a healthy diet is essential for hair growth. Take proteins into consideration, such as keratin which makes up most of your hair.
Your body needs to produce more amino acids to increase hair growth. Proteins can come from eggs, nuts, beans, fish, etc.
Check with your doctor to make sure you don't have any deficiencies. Iron and zinc play a big component in hair growth as well as nail growth. Cereal, breads, pastas, have a healthy level of iron and zinc.
Make sure you take enough vitamin C as well ( Lack of such vitamin can cause dry, dull, and weakened hair... Citrus fruits, strawberries, guava, broccoli, kale, peppers, etc.have a good amount of Vitamin C. )
Consume healthy fats such as unsaturated fats and fatty acids such as omega-3's. Fats are indispensable to hair growth.
Exercising, scalp massages, and avoiding stress. Exercising allows blood to flow to your head, and massaging your hair stimulates new hair growth ( for at least 5 minutes when you wash your hair or apply a product, massage your scalp. )
Stress causes hair to fall out so avoid stress if you can.
Hair masks and treatments are a must. Stick to treatments involving Coconut oil. Coconut Oil stimulates hair growth because it penetrates deep into your hair follicles ( and is considered protein. )
Oils work great for hair, for maximum benefits heat them up indirectly. ( Heat up a cup of water in your microwave for two minutes, and in a separate enclosed container with your hair masks, place it in the cup of water to heat it indirectly. )
Avoid heat if you can.
You don't need to get a haircut every x number of months, that just causes it to stay at the same length.
Get a cut if you really need to (dead ends, split ends, etc), cutting hair won't just randomly make it grow twice as fast.
You can wash your hair every day, it's shampooing you want to stray from because it's very stripping. Shampoo your scalp ONLY.
Don't rinse out all of your conditioner. This helps immensely and when you wash your hair again it will be de-tangled. Stick to moisturizing your hair 100%.
Try to brush your hair outside of the shower with a wide tooth comb.
If you have any questions - feel free to contact me. I am in the process of growing out my hair and the above has really helped me. ☺

However you said that coconut oil stimulates hair growth? The mane n tail conditioner has coconut oil and soybean oil as well.

I say its a great product I have seen many ppl hair grow quickly w/ it, didnt have breakage either but everyone is different. I didnt know it had that in it! thats great even more of a reason to try it.

No!! It's awful for your hair! Full of silicones and sulfate that coat the hair shaft and prevent moisture from getting it causing your hair to look temporarily nice but in the long run is dehydrating your hair making it brittle and yucky!

What everyone else said. any "growth" people thought they saw is because of all the wax build up weighing down your hair. it takes time to see the damage it's really doing, which is why so many people think it's a good product. it's all an illusion.

Katie S.
I honestly don't see a problem with it because it has the same ingredients as my previous shampoos and conditioners, with the addition of beneficial ingredients such as coconut oil. I've seen so many success stories, and since it's not too different from my previous shampoos, why not.
May 12, 2014
Kat A.
Well if you don't see a problem, then go for it. not my hair to say what to do :)

@Katie I personally don't think ruining my hair will do any good just for coconut or soybean oil. Those are both products commonly found in any hair product and if I were that desperate for it I have a jar of coconut oil and I would just rather do a natural mask and not have to worry about damaging my hair ☺
If you want to overlook it that is up to you, but everything I posted is information for knowledge to not only benefit you, but to benefit everyone else as well.

I used to use it, I didn't see any more growth but it didn't make my hair brittle or damaged at all. my hair was still healthy :) If you're worried about wax build up, you can use a clarifying shampoo once a week :)

I feel the same as you, Renay. I don't wanna come off as rude to the original poster, but it does irritate me when people ask for opinions & they get a ton of feedback negative towards the product along with facts, & then they're just like well whatever. screw the facts. lol.
May 12, 2014
Katie S.
Lol well I was looking for opinions from people who have tried it. Does it work for hair growth? I think only somebody who has used it can answer that question. Have a good evening ☺️
May 12, 2014
Kat A.
Well some people do research before unintentionally screwing up their hair lol. but indeed, have a wonderful evening.

Well Katie, if you read my post I'm sure you'll read where I mentioned I used it for almost a year. And it did take me about 5 months to notice my hair getting dry and brittle. I had to find out the hard way why my hair was getting destroyed.
But like I said, it is up to you and I am not going to force you to use/not use the product. I am here to inform and help you ☺
May 12, 2014
Katie S.
Thanks kitty! :) I was insulting your opinion or anything, you shared a lot of great information with me and I'll use many of the other tips you incorporated to help with my hair growth journey.

It's true that our bodies are different, but some things are just facts. it will happen no matter what. using mane n tail isn't beneficial & will show later on just like using a straightener without a heat protectant will end up damaging your hair.

Noelle M.
Well I still it works on different people. bc I NEVER got damaged hair from it. and some girls did.
