I love this idea but when the nail grows out what becomes of the patched edge? The nail will break in that spot after it grows out anyway? This is just a temporary fix i guess. Seems hard but i hate when all my nails are all even then one rips so i may try

As for the stretchy material, it's just a small piece of fabric - stretchy fabrics tend to be slightly thinner than non stretchy ones, and so, less material to buff down.
